Welcome to Fr O'Neills Juvenile GAA Web-Site 2007

Home of the East Cork, County, Munster and All-Ireland Junior Hurling Champions 2005

Good Weekend for all.

Well done to the Intermediate Hurling team and their mentors on a solid victory over Cobh in Castlemartyr, on fridy night last at the 3rd atempt. They really upped their performance from the two previous nighjts and showed to all present, what they are capable of.

Also major plaudits to the Fe-10 Hurlers and their mentors, who won the 'Decky Guckian' competition for invited teams at the Glen Rovers Complex on Sunday last. When one considers the calibre of team that they competed against, you appreciate the enormity of the task facing a small but progressive rural club. For final results and standings on this competition, visit the site from the web-address given on the Latest News Page. Oh, and a big word of thanks to Fanaithe an Ghleanna and in particular, Cian O'Brien, first of all for the invitation and also for the magnificent after-event function with refreshment laid on by the famed club afterwards.

Jimmy Barry Murphy
Jimmy was on hand on Friday night last in Garryvoe Hotel, where over 340 patrons attended for the Annual Supper Social & Medal Presentation Cermony. It shows that legends of JBM's calibre never age - given the reception he received, particularily from the younger generation.

Jimmy presented medals to the victorious Fe-11, Fe-12 and Fe-15 panels and is pictured above with the respective captains: Kenneth Hegarty (Fe-12 E.Cork and County 'B' hurling), Tadhg McCarthy (Fe-15 'B' E.Cork hurling) and Padraig McMahon (Fe-11 'B' E.Cork hurling). Also present is Seamus Joyce (Club Cathaoirleach).

"Who we aaa-rrr-ee, Who we aaa-rrr-ee"

Fr O'Neills Juvenile GAA Club was founded in the early 1970's and won it's first competition when defeating Erins Own in an U14 hurling competition in 1971. Bonfires blazed in Ballymacoda & Ladysbridge as Eddie O'Leary brought "The Tom Powell Cup" to the parish. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, culminating with the capture of the club's first County Title in Fe-14 'B' Peil and the club's first Divisional 'A' title when winning the Fe-13 East Cork Football title in 2004.

Today the club caters for over 140 juveniles from Fe-8 to Fe-16 in both Hurling & Football at all grades and with a solid backroom team, continues to strive for honours at all levels
